Our Teen Badminton Program

Welcome to the TEEN BADMINTON CLUB!

It's a great place to play badminton!

Our recreational teens practice and play once a week, having fun learning a lot about badminton. Each week teens train their skills with a coach for 45 minutes, and then play games for the last 45 minutes, alternating between doubles and singles each week!

Play at your level!

At the TBC, no matter what level you start at, you will find a group of players with similar abilities to grow with, so you can play at your level and help each other get to the next level!

Badminton is a fascinating learning experience. Anyone can play, it's super easy to start, but it's a challenging game to be really good at, which is part of the fun!

Each season, you will learn more techniques and tactics through dynamic exercises to build your game.

Below is the weekly schedule template our coaches at the TBC use to base their forever varying exercises and drills. After your first season or two at the club, you'll have learned all the core basics and have fun making life long friends while developing the athlete in you!

 

WEEK 1
Intro to Badminton, Basic Grip, Hitting Overhead Shots, & Court Safety
WEEK 2
Intro to SERVES & CLEARS, Wrist Pronation & Basic Positioning.
WEEK 3
Intro to DOUBLES: Positioning, Communication, Low Serves & Scorekeeping.
WEEK 4
Intro to SINGLES: Ready Position, DROP SHOTS, Attacking Basics, Long Serve.
WEEK 5
Intro to SMASHES, Hitting in Motion, Basic Footwork / Shuffle step.
WEEK 6
Intro to NET SHOTS, specific Footwork & Grips, Split Step.
WEEK 7
Intro to DEFENCE: LIFTS, Recovery & Smash BLOCKS
WEEK 8
Intro to QUICKNESS: DRIVES, PUSHES, ATTACK TACTICS, and FOOTWORK
WEEK 9
FOLLOW-UP / RECOVERY / SPEED TRAINING. Hitting in Movement.
WEEK 10
OVERHEAD BACKHANDS. PRESENTATION - POSTURE- DECEPTION. Multi Bird Session.
